Before we dive in…
Nhon Ly is way bigger than you’d think. It sits about 15 kilometers away from downtown Quy Nhon, and honestly, this place has it all. It practically hugs Eo Gio right in its front yard, and just beyond that lies Ky Co Beach. On top of that, Nhon Ly features its own charming Mural Village, a scenic local beach, and a rustic harbor village tucked away in the south.
So, to give you the ultimate guide, I’m breaking Nhon Ly down into 5 epic chapters:
-
#1 Mural Village: Ocean Blue Aesthetic
-
#2 Mural Village: The Nostalgic Local Beachfront
-
#3 South Village: The Rustic Harbor Village and Local Life
-
#4 Eo Gio: Nhon Ly’s Front Yard Where the Wind Lingers
-
#5 Ky Co Beach: The Emerald Paradise of Nhon Ly
For the very first chapter of our journey, we’re stepping into the “Mural Village.” Let’s get it!
The Cyan Blue Vibe of Mural Alley
As you step into the Mural Village, the cyan blue alleys begin to reveal themselves. At first glance, they look vibrant and colorful, but deep down, there’s an untouched, rustic charm to them.
Strolling through these alleys, you can catch the warm, rustic soul of the village in every corner—each step revealing the quiet footsteps and daily lives of the people who call this place home.
The alleys might look empty and peaceful in the photos, but in reality, this place gets its fair share of visitors. I just happened to head out during the off-peak hours to wander around and capture these quiet shots.
To be honest, the Mural Village isn’t that big. If you’re just here to look around, 20 minutes is more than enough. Even if you stop to take tons of photos and shoot videos, 40 minutes will easily do the trick.
Tucked away in these alleys, you’ll stumble upon local homestays, cozy cafes, and tiny neighborhood grocery stores. These homestays aren’t just great places to spend the night—they also double as incredible photo spots.
The Homestay: This is hands down where local Vietnamese travelers take the most photos. If you look up Nhon Ly on Facebook, about 80% of the shots or Reels are filmed right in front of this homestay or along the alley right next to it.
The Neighborhood Grocery Store: As a traveler, I actually find myself way more drawn to places like this. There’s something so effortlessly authentic and deeply local about it, you know?
The Cafe: While there are about three cafes scattered along the alleys, this one is easily the biggest and boasts the most bold, vibrant colors. Nestled right at the end of the shortcut from Eo Gio, it’s bound to be the very first building you spot when stepping into the Mural Village.
Of course, the snapshots I’ve shared aren’t the whole story. Instead of just showing you everything here, I highly recommend you come feel and experience the magic of this village with your own eyes.
It takes less than 5 minutes to walk from the entrance of the Mural Village to Eo Gio. So, if you’re planning a visit, I suggest heading to Eo Gio first, and then making your way over here to the Mural Village.
And if time is on your side? Go take a refreshing dip at the Mural Village beach, and then wrap up your day with an epic dinner at a secret-weapon restaurant that I’ll be revealing in an upcoming post. Stay tuned!
How to Get to Nhon Ly Mural Village (Quick Guide)
Option 1: Taking a Grab (Stress-Free & Comfortable)
Nhon Ly Mural Village is located about 17 km from downtown Quy Nhon, taking roughly 25 minutes.
GrabCar: ~250,000 VND (Approx. $10 USD) / GrabBike: ~100,000 VND (Approx. $4 USD)
The Ultimate Grab Hack: When booking your Grab, set your destination to “Happiness Quy Nhon Hotel“. Trust me on this one!
From this hotel, it takes less than 30 seconds to walk to the Eo Gio Ticket Office. Plus, the side alley right next to the hotel leads you straight into the heart of the Mural Village. See the visual guide I personally marked on the map below.
Option 2: Renting a Scooter (The Scenic Route – Highly Recommended!)
If you love open roads, renting a scooter is an absolute must. It costs around 120,000 VND per day (Approx. $5 USD), but the experience is priceless.
You’ll get to cross the Thi Nai Bridge—one of the longest oversea bridges in Vietnam—offering epic views of the ocean and the Quy Nhon skyline.
You’ll cruise past the stunning desert landscapes of the Phuong Mai Peninsula and see giant wind turbines spinning against the sky.
Best of all? The roads in Quy Nhon are in pristine condition with very little traffic—meaning fewer cars and scooters to worry about, and almost no waiting at traffic lights!
